30 acres of Land of Lincoln sells for $300,000

Thirty acres once owned by Abraham Lincoln sold for $300,000 on Feb. 12 in Charleston, Ill.

The tract was part of 590 acres sold by retired Charleston farmer Ron Best, who bought the Coles County land in 1989 and farmed it until health issues pushed him into retirement.

Auctioneer Mike Stanfield of Charleston conducted the auction.
